In my opinion, a feminist is a person, who does everything in her own way in a typical mans's world. Having said that, its not really a mans world anymore :-)

Pooja, rightly said, its a very subjective term and there is no right or wrong answer.
In my personal opinion, its the equality of the sexes in todays socio-religious, economic and political structure of a society. Sticking to my opinion, yeah, I do strive hard in following my feminist ideas, sometimes I am successful, sometimes I am not. It's a very very difficult idealism to follow in a society like India, which is based on socio-religious norms, but anyhow change is inevitable!!!

Feminism is a collection of social theories, political movements, and moral philosophies largely motivated by or concerned with the liberation of women. In simple terms, feminism is a belief in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes.

There are different types of feminists & i belive one should follow "protectionist feminism" which focuses on legal protection for women, such as employment laws.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. You write a good blog too! I'd love to have added comments everywhere, but I think I'd better stick to one place :-)

Here's my opinion about feminism - and I've been through every phase of it. Feminism, personalised to a single person, is the belief that a woman should be able to choose her actions without her gender being a factor in that choice. And that involves - career, marriage, social interaction... everything.

A woman should also be able to act without thinking about the consequences in terms of double standards in perception by the world. (e.g. why should a woman who sleeps around be called a slut and a man who does the same be called a stud?)

On the other hand, a woman should also be able to choose to be a home-maker, a wife, mother, whatever and be able to enjoy her choice without other women looking down on her. :-)

I think I am a feminist - one does not have to be militant to make a stand for equality wherever one can.

That said, I really think that the first comment here by ankurindia is completely ignorant.

Hey Pooj,

I was totally inspired :-)

I actually love doing these tests. At least some stretch of the old brain sometimes!

Feminism to me is about equal opportunity, respect and recognition.

Its not about bashing the other gender. However in this struggle for recognition I salute the radical feminist who took up the cause and fought for a place. What feminism means now has changed from what it meant in the 70's.

I am a feminist, I don't believe in burning the bra, but realise the strengths of women and conveying the same.
